Google Base Results Showing up in Some Search Results

Google Base is Google’s attempt at tapping into the success of sites like craigslist; community oriented “classified” listings posted by other users.
There are some reports that Google is sprinkling Google Base results within regular search results for popular search categories including travel. I’ve yet to see it with my own searches, but it would make sense from Google’s point-of-view for certain queries. Think of a search like “Time Share in Las Vegas” or “Jobs in Boston.”
Even more interesting to me is how this can/will be utilized by search engine optimizers, especially in Travel… Will this be a new, more direct, channel to reach Google users with specific offers and content? Can it be manipulated to give you better rankings than your main website(s) for narrow search queries?
